Human Rights Violations in Shan State

On 18 September at 4 pm, Burmese soldiers from IB 144 based in Maw Tong village, Nam Kham village tract, Nam Kham Township shot Sai Jan Sean, 30 of Yan Aon village, Nam Kham village tract while he was returning by motorbike from visiting his sister at Nam Hton village. He was shot during he was washing his feet under the Nam Hton bridge. His left arm and abdomen were wounded and he was taken to local hospital by Burmese soldiers. His family members were not allowed to visit him at the hospital. They were ordered to pay for the medical treatment of Sai Jan Sean and not to tell the case to others or Burmese soldier would not grant the life of Sai Jan Sean. On 10 September at 2 pm, Burmese soldiers from LIB 504 which is active in the area of Hoya village tract, Murng Yai Township, northern Shan State robbed the properties of local villagers because they were starving and there have been no food supplies for them from their mother battalion headquarters. The victims were: 1.Loon Zern and Pa La lost 5 Kg of rice, 2 bottles of cooking oil and 18,000 kyat in cash. 2.Nai Li lost 1 viss of chicken. 3.San Awn and Nang Yin lost 2 bottles of cooking oil and 2 chickens. 4.Sai Yun and Nang Li lost all of their kitchen items. 5.
