Burmese troops are still not responding to the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) warning that all Burmese troops deployed close to KIA military camps should disperse by the May 25th deadline, KIA officials said. The KIA sent a letter to the Burmese government on May 19th, saying all Burmese troops near KIA camps, including three Burmese army battalions stationed near KIA Battalion 5, based in Sinbo, should withdraw from their positions.
