AIM together with AIA-The call Aung San Suu- we were told to wait. We waited.
Dear Friends and Youth members
Tonight we again tried to contact AASK. AIM together with AIA tried to contact AASK for more than an hour to no avail. We were unable to connect through. The line were either busy or could not be connected. After the failed teleconference last night, we had our hopes up and again we felt very down. The telecon were cancelled and AIA and AIM said our goodnight.
While AIM were packing up we tried the number again, this time through a mobile phone. And we got through!! We were told to called back in 15 minutes. We were so reluctant to hang up, worried that we could not get through again. We frantically called Jenny of AIA asking her to skype. We waited for 15 minutes and made the call. As AIM does not have any telecon facilities, we got all our speakers and mike out and hope that all goes well. I was on a mobile attached to a speaker and Jenny on our laptop connected to the mike so she could hear and she too had her recorder next to her computer’s speaker.
The call got through and we were told to wait. We waited. Our hearts were racing, filled with anticipation and, nervousness and stress worried that the call may drop. And then we hear the familiar voice of ASSK.
On your behalf I asked ASSK some of your questions. I was so worried that the call may drop as we were told that calls to Burma is so unreliable. It was a truly an amazing night for us and some youth that was with me felt so exhilarated and inspired to continue with our work. This call had been recorded and we will send this to you. We hope her words will further encourage you in your journey to uphold Human Rights and work towards a better world.
Thank you
In Solidarity
