Thailand-Air force prepared to aid flood victims

BANGKOK, 28 September 2009 (NNT) – The air force is preparing its aircrafts, equipment and personnel in order to give assistance to flood victims across the country, according to Deputy Air Force Spokesperson Group Captain Monthol Satchukorn.

Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Itthaporn Subhawong has reiterated to his officials nationwide to be prompt in offering assistance to troubled residents and supporting the operation of related agencies. Group Captain Monthol added that aircrafts had been prepared to evacuate people or send survival kits to disaster areas.

Meanwhile, Army Spokesperson Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the army was monitoring the situation and was prompt to give assistance upon requests from related agencies.

Earlier the Thai Meteorological Department issued its daily weather forecast warning. 16 provinces can expect heavy rainfalls and flashfloods, while Tropical Storm ‘Ketsana’ will have an impact on weather conditions in Thailand from 30 September to 3 October 2009.
