Following 2 separate bomb blasts earlier in the morning, a 3rd explosion shook Moulmein, the capital of Mon State. There were no casualties from any of the explosions, but police and military forces are scouring the city for suspects and additional bombs.
After two separate bombs exploded on Wednesday at 9:00 am, and approximately 9:20 am, respectively, the government paper, The New Light Of Myanmar, reports the third explosion occurred at 6:35 pm. The 3rd bomb detonated in Ma Yan Gone quarter, on the upper main road, Mag Gin street, off of Main Ka Lay Myar Lan street.
The two earlier blasts occurred a good distance away in Sik Kay Gone quarter, according to a resident from Ma Yan Gone quarter.
“The [latest] bomb exploded near the Government development committee office…Policemen soon arrived at the scene of the explosion,” the resident added.
According to another resident of Moulmein, security has been drastically increased by city officials after the three bomb blasts: “Now, outside of Moulmein at the Phar Out Row Gow security gate, there are not only policemen but also policewomen standing guard. They are checking the passengers trucks and motorbikes.”
The police and army have also been conducting vehicle and passengers searches outside of the town at Thanlwin bridge gate and Attran bridge, another Moulmein resident reported to IMNA.
This comes lest than a week after government authorities found a bomb on the train at Pyinmanar (Nay Pyi Daw) train station (Sunday, May 17th ). The government accused that the bomb was planted by the All Burma Democratic Students Front (ABSDF),
